Endorsements The Northwest Association of Educators have always endorsed me. I feel confident that once we complete the interview process for this election I will once again have their support. I have always worked very well with our teachers and respect their hard work and dedication to the students of our district.
Political Philosophy A School Board Member is Non-Partisan for a reason. It SHOULD NOT be about Politics. It should be about making the best decisions FOR ALL CHILDREN!
I am currently President of the BOE and have served 20 yrs. I am a former Alumni, Parent of Alumni's, Business Owner in the district and most importantly a Grandparent to a future Alumni. I serve on the Finance and Health Insurance Committees.
1) Continue to work on the communication between the district, parents, students and community members 2) Not only have a successful opening of our 3 brand new elementary schools in Aug. 18 but also continue to earn ELP Credits through the State of Ohio so that we will be able to build a K-8 Colerain Elementary without needing TAX DOLLARS 3) Continue to prepare ALL STUDENTS for a successful future. For example, our partnership with Butler Tech offers many pathway options for our students.
Communication is always critical when building consensus in the community. Being a board member is so much more than just showing up at the meetings. I surround myself with people in the community and most importantly the students of our community. I try to attend as many school functions as possible and not only talk to parents and staff; but more importantly LISTEN to their questions and concerns. Social Media is fine, but we need more face to face interactions so we can be SUCCESSFUL!

Political Philosophy My philosophy is that even though we as public servants may have different opinions and values it is our DUTY to be civil and professional to best serve our communities. There is no room in the leadership positions for personal agendas or hidden initiatives. Transparency is a must. We must make decisions that represent the immediate and future needs of our communities.
Management experience in the following: - Multi- million dollar operating budgets - Leadership with large diverse groups of employees - Innovative and creative solution oriented problem solving while maintaining budgeted projections.
My three priorities are the following: 1. Fiscal Responsibility/ Community Relations - Fleecing all monies and expenditures on an ongoing basis. 2. Completion of capital projects underway - Ensure the capital building campaigns are completed on time. Prepare our staff for the new technologies and learning environments that come with these buildings. 3. Healthy productive teaching environments
I feel we need better and more reliable representation at the community leadership level. Establishing representation at the local township leadership meetings to ensure "real time" accurate data. It is NWLSD responsibility to ensure all efforts are made to be connected to the townships. Offer open round table forums for the public to come hear the new initiatives in the school district. Buy in is always better when ownership is present. Petitioning ideas will build continued support.

Experience Elected in 2013, the only first-time candidate for NW. I came in 2nd out of 7 to earn one of three positions up. Served on audit & building committees, championed 2 levies, which decreased tax rates, built new buildings, & renovated all others.

Political Philosophy Fiscal and social conservative who believes in holding people accountable for results. Keeping focus local without getting caught up in state/national politics. Board members achieved convergence through open communication with each other and community. This climate has been good for students, teachers, staff, parents, and taxpayers.
4 years on board, hired superintendent & treasurer who lead our turnaround efforts academically and financially. Supported & helped shape building campaign.

The board is a policy-making body and I've worked in state education policy for over 10 yrs.
1. Keep district fiscally responsible, which we have done with two levy reductions.

2. Keep academic focus on student growth, with special attention paid to middle school students and career technical education which prepares students for college and careers pertinent to today's and tomorrow's economy.

3. Ensuring that Northwest continues its turnaround and is more broadly recognized for our students' accomplishments in the classroom, on the field, and in the labs.
I believe that I have been able to accomplish a great deal of consensus by working and campaigning for our levies and opening lines of communication between the district and the community as a whole. I talk to people who reside in the district who have historically not seen our public schools up close and personal, for whatever reason. The very high support for our recent ballot issues speaks to this.

Political Philosophy Tom Perez said in order to make a difference get involved politically from the Bd. of Education elections on up. That was my epiphany. I am going to listen to all the different groups in the community and bring their concerns to the Board.
Being a former teacher, I see education in a different light than the other sitting Board members. I can hopefully bring the concerns of "those in the trenches" who try to make the system run smoothly (from the maintenance,bus drivers,& teachers).
1. Retain the energetic teachers who are dedicated to their profession by giving them incentives to stay. (Being a former teacher from Walnut Hills H.S., I want to encourage the raising the academic atmosphere on all levels.) 2. Listen to the property owners who pay the bills and expect an excellent product (graduates from either Northwest H.S. and Colerain H.S.) 3. Tighten the discipline code in order to create an academic and athletic environment hwere all students can excel.
I am willing to hold meetings anywhere for concerned individuals especially property owners and parents who send their children to private schools who cannot make the Board meetings. Listening to them and communicating are my top priorities. Listening to concerns of all those who entrusted to see that all students are safe and secure. (whether they are the maintenance, security, bus drivers,athletic coaches, or teachers.) Take those concerns to the Board to consider.
