I support independent redistricting and the efforts of OneVirginia2021. Political parties and elected official should NOT be drawing electoral district lines.
I would like to see voting be made easier for all qualified Virginians. That includes allowing early voting so those who can’t get to the polls on election day can still vote, and making the process of absentee voting less arduous.
The Virginia General Assembly has made some positive steps in increasing transparency in both voting records and financial disclosure in the last few years. However, more can be done. The voters have a right to know exactly how their elected officials vote in committee as well as in session. They also have a right to know exactly where donations come from and how they are spent.
I support the expansion of Medicaid. Expanding healthcare access and lowering costs for residents in the 99th makes good business sense and throws a lifeline to rural hospitals. It is also the moral thing to do.
The 99th district is situated along the Chesapeake Bay, Potomac and Rappahannock Rivers. The health of these resources is of the utmost importance to the people of my district and me. I am the anti-fracking candidate and the one who will work to protect our waterways and the Chesapeake Bay. The health of our waterways effects the health of our oysters and fish, the success of our small businesses, tourism, real estate values, etc. We can’t afford to take a “wait and see” approach.
To oppose fracking and protect our fishing, farming, forestry and tourism industries. Create new jobs through increased broadband access. Provide affordable healthcare for everyone. Strengthen and fund our local public schools. Support easier access to voting and non-partisan redistricting.
