Taxes, redevelopment, and quality of life are the most important challenges facing Bound Brook. As with all small towns in NJ, taxes are of paramount importance. I intend to continue the work that I have started in stabilizing taxes and balancing the borough Budget. On my first year on council(2015), the borough of Bound Brook faced a $1.2 million deficit. In 2017 the borough began it's fiscal year with over $300,000.00 in surplus. On July 17, 2016, the Bound Brook portion of the Green Brook Flood control project was completed allowing Bound Brook to turn the page on era of flooding and depression in the Main St area of Bound Brook. As Councilmen I intend on continuing an aggressive redevelopment plan for the area. Currently working with developer and property owners of the Main St we have been able to attract multiple developers that will begin 4 new developments in 2018-2019. The new developments will bring 600 new luxury apartments and 40,000 sq feet of new retail space that will help the revitalization of the Bound Brook Main St area. The new developments also represent $2 million dollars in new revenue for the borough which will help alleviate Bound Brook's tax obligation. I also intent to continue an aggressive code enforcement policy in Bound Brook which has helped improve the quality of life for all our residents. Clean streets represent the community we are and sends a clear message that we care about our residents and thier well being.
Over the last 3 years I have proposed and helped pass over thirty new or revamped ordinances helping to stream line and improve how we do businesses in. If elected I will be working to introduce a new ordinance that will dedicate a percentage of new development for public art in order to foster and grow the Brook Brook Arts District.
In regards to annual operating municipal budget, my intention is to continue to increase revenues in order to out pace the ever increasing statutory budget line items and find more cost effective alternatives to the services that Bound Brook offers it's residents. Our five year capital budget focuses on roads, fire equipment, and creation of new public spaces for the recreational uses of our residents.
